The SCORE Association, founded in 1964 and headquartered in Washington, D.C., is a nonprofit association dedicated to entrepreneurial education and the formation, growth and success of small business nationwide. Its public service mission is to provide free face-to-face, telephone and e-mail business counseling to help small businesses evaluate plans, stabilize, grow, innovate and succeed. SCORE is also a resource partner with the U.S. Small Business Administration.
SCORE is composed of over 12,000 volunteer business mentors, both working and retired, who counsel businesses from over 389 chapter offices throughout the country. SCORE volunteers hail form every facet of the business community. Some have worked at large corporations such as Kodak, Xerox and Boeing. Some have served in our military or worked for the local or federal government. Others have spent years cultivating their own small business.
Local chapters provide free counseling and low-cost workshops in their communities. In 1997, the national SCORE home page was opened and on-line counseling was added to extend the availability of SCORE assistance. There are now over 500 counselors available on-line to assist you. Both working and retired executives and business owners donate their time and expertise as business counselors. There is NEVER a charge for SCORE counseling. |
